Screw Productions is made up of a partnership between Grace Carroll and Bryony Cole. Who came together for a mutual desire to see more female-led plays dealing with sex in a fun playful way.
One half of Screw Productions is Grace Carroll. Grace Carroll is a writer based and brought up in London. She graduated from an MA in Screenwriting from London College of Communication in 2016. Since then she has had work performed at various scratch nights, including Stitchin’ Fiction, Leytonstone Itch and E & C writer’s night. She has had two short pieces of work performed at Herstory: Feminist Theatre Festival at Theatre N16 where she first debuted a short written with Bryony Cole that would later become ‘Wet’. Her short play ‘Swipe’ was selected for Little Pieces of Gold and performed at Southwark Playhouse.
The other half is Bryony Cole, an actress and writer from Sheffield. Currently living in Amsterdam, Bryony has performed in numerous productions including ‘Becky Shaw’, ‘The Ingenious Mind’ in collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, ‘The Rules Of Inflation’, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ and ‘Antigone’. She is currently shooting her first feature film, ‘Red Heart, Blank Face,’ about the difficulties of finding love in a modern world. Bryony has set up an International theatre company in Amsterdam: Actors Anonymous; who recently enjoyed a sold out run of their first production. She is also a part of the award-winning performance collective Balloons Theatre who have enjoyed international success, including performances at Edinburgh Fringe, Prague Fringe and Amsterdam Fringe Festival.
Despite being from opposite ends of the country, Grace and Bryony have managed to form a bond over their love of writing genuine, authentic, funny feminist theatre, though they still sometimes get confused when talking about “dinner” and “tea”.
