Screw Productions is made up of a partnership between Grace Carroll and Bryony Cole. Who came together for a mutual desire to see more female-led plays dealing with sex in a fun playful way.
One half of Screw Productions is Grace Carroll. Grace Carroll is a writer based and brought up in London. She graduated from an MA in Screenwriting from London College of Communication in 2016. Since then she has had work performed at various scratch nights, including Stitchin’ Fiction, Leytonstone Itch and E & C writer’s night. She has had two short pieces of work performed at Herstory: Feminist Theatre Festival at Theatre N16 where she first debuted a short written with Bryony Cole that would later become ‘Wet’. Her short play ‘Swipe’ was selected for Little Pieces of Gold and performed at Southwark Playhouse.
The other half is Bryony Cole, an actress and writer from Sheffield. Bryony is based in Amsterdam and has performed in numerous productions including ‘Becky Shaw’, ‘The Ingenious Mind’ in collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, ‘The Rules Of Inflation’, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ and ‘Antigone’. Bryony is the Co-Founder of the international theatre company: ‘Actors Anonymous’ (www.actorsanonymous.nl) who enjoyed a sold out run of their first production ‘Becky Shaw’ in 2018. In 2018 Bryony appeared in the feature film, ‘Red Heart, Blank Face,’ directed by Samuel Sheffield. She also played the lead role in ‘You Listen Always,’ a short film directed by Tijnke van Gelder, which premiered at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Bryony is passionate about making relatable and funny work with an important message.
Despite being from opposite ends of the country, Grace and Bryony have managed to form a bond over their love of writing genuine, authentic, funny feminist theatre, though they still sometimes get confused when talking about “dinner” and “tea”.
